Logic and Fallacies
'There's a lot of debate on the net. Unfortunately, much of it is of very low quality. The aim of this document is to explain the basics of logical reasoning, and hopefully improve the overall quality of debate.'
Propaganda Analysis
"As Anthony Pratkanis and Elliot Aronson point out, "every day we are bombarded with one persuasive communication after another. These appeals persuade not through the give-and-take of argument and debate, but through the manipulation of symbols and of our most basic human emotions. For better or worse, ours is an age of propaganda." (Pratkanis and Aronson, 1991)
With the growth of communication tools like the Internet, the flow of persuasive messages has been dramatically accelerated. For the first time ever, citizens around the world are participating in uncensored conversations about their collective future. This is a wonderful development, but there is a cost."

Voluntaryism
'Voluntaryists are advocates of non-political, non-violent strategies to achieve a free society. We reject electoral politics, in theory and in practice, as incompatible with libertarian principles. Governments must cloak their actions in an aura of moral legitimacy in order to sustain their power, and political methods invariably strengthen that legitimacy. Voluntaryists seek instead to delegitimize the State through education, and we advocate withdrawal of the cooperation and tacit consent on which State power ultimately depends.'

Bureau of Public Secrets and the Situationists International
Situationists, cultural subversion, revolt, detournement, class struggles, action, anti-statism, the society of the spectacle, social critiques, self-management, structurelessness, the social lie. "In 1957 a few experimental European groups stemming from the radical tradition of dadaism and surrealism, but seeking to avoid the cooption to which those movements succumbed, came together to form the Situationist International. The name came from their aim of liberating everyday life through the creation of open-ended, participatory “situations” (as opposed to fixed works of art) — an aim which naturally ran up against the whole range of material and mental obstacles produced by the present social order. Over the next decade the situationists developed an increasingly incisive critique of the global “spectacle-commodity system” and of its bureaucratic leftist pseudo-opposition, and their new methods of agitation helped trigger the May 1968 revolt in France. Since then — although the SI itself was dissolved in 1972 — situationist theories and tactics have continued to inspire radical currents in dozens of countries all over the world."

Disinfo.com (Disinformation)
'The most popular alternative news and underground culture destination on the web ... Current affairs, politics, new science and the 'hidden information,' that seldom seems to slip through the cracks of the corporate-owned media conglomerates'.
'We'd also like to remind you that the name of this site is Disinformation. We encourage you to research each topic for yourself: check out all the links, especially the ones that seem contrary to your views; question the motivation of the writer and publisher; and form your own opinion about the information that is being presented. Amnesty International - defenders of human rights
'Imagine. One day you are going about your life, the next day you are gone without explanation. Friends, family, co-workers, have no idea where you are or what happened to you. Perhaps you were arrested, but when asked, local officials deny any knowledge of your whereabouts. It's as if you no longer exist...
Around the world, people are imprisoned for no legal reason. Many are charged with some form of "treason" against the government, however, some simply "disappear" and are held in secret with no charge or acknowledgment that they are being held.
These people are not violent anarchists or terrorists, but ordinary people: students, wives, artists, journalists, priests and teachers. They hold religious or political beliefs that are contrary to those of the local government. They never used or advocated the use of any form of violence, yet they are subjected to torture, rape and execution and denied access to medical or legal aid.
This happens because the local police and military believe they can act in the dark, unseen by the rest of the world.
...It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness...
Amnesty International is an independent human rights organisation that brings these stories out into the open for the world to see. Thousands of Amnesty members write letters on behalf of these prisoners. Each letter is like a spotlight shining on the police governors, military commanders and political officials. The letters give detailed descriptions of the last known whereabouts of the prisoners and their treatment.' Also check out www.amnesty-volunteer.org.
